Okay, it's Sunday. I'm off today and tomorrow from my day job at the hair salon, so what works for me while producing a story is type for an hour, do my day-to-day cleaning laundry stuff like that for a half hour. A little backstory I am the firstborn in a family that was dirt poor, to save my father was a tyrant is putting it gently. As the eldest I had to do a lot of extra by that I mean at 9 years old, for my birthday,I learned how to make my parents coffee. I am not by any means bringing up the past for any other reason than to say, if I'm not cleaning doing laundry dishes something I feel lazy.
I'm also bipolar, so anyone with bipolar knows either your house is immaculate and you can eat off the ceiling or it's not and it just clutters up. So to battle feelings of being imperfect and my bipolar this is the system of created, it works for me. I'm doing this 4th story a little different than I did the others, I'm a pants writer and by that I mean I write by the seat of my pants and see what happens. That is painfully evident in my first three publications, with moons kiss it's a little different. I do not well I did not outline or take notes or any of those things with the first three. Outlining is I don't want to say overrated but I tend to get hung up on details for me it's overrated. I literally make a list of the events that I want to happen in my story to get from chapter 1 to they live happily ever after. It is numbered 1 2 3 4 etc etc etc, and as those events happen no matter where they happen in the book I check them off I rewrite them as they happen on a separate sheet of paper. Yes I know but Denise why do it that way there's technology, technology makes me want to be violent... And to quote from Jurassic Park 3 I believe violence and technology not good bed fellows. Yes I'm a nerd too.
I also feel more accomplished if I can just at any time pull out paper read it and keep moving. This first draft I am just going to focus on the story as it comes out, good news I am close to finishing chapter 13, bad news it was supposed to be a shifter romance there's no kissing nothing yet! So when I go through and do the read-through of my first draft I will be taking notes on where to add certain things. I've decided with this book I'm not going to let my excitement get the better part of me, first draft will be done hopefully by February, publication probably won't be until September or October. Because like I said I want to read through it add things change things that's the second draft, then I will be giving it to someone to read for me. And I will take him to consideration there questions and things like that, that will be my third draft. It will go through editing software every time I do a draft update or edit.
I want to become a better author with each book, and to do that I have to find and try different methods. When I was first published I thought quantity! But now I'm discovering I want quality I want a story that you can immerse yourself in that you cheer for your favorite character and you say there that's what you get That's what you deserve for the character you like the least. The only way to do that is to write the book I want to read, and then to refine said book. Thank you for reading this blog and following me! I hope you have the week you deserve!
