Denise Burdette was born Denise Causey to her parents Leroy and Janice Causey in Bartow Florida. She was born in the summer of 1973, I grew up in the '80s. She went to Crystal River high School for one year, homosassa springs elementary and Crystal River Middle School. There she had a wonderful group of friends who embraced her odd nature. She was told she'd never be able to read in the first grade, then her mother who only had a sixth grade education taught her to read that summer. They would read the enormous crocodile over and over again, she was able to read that for following year in school for her teacher. 

Well in Florida she won the 1988 dreamers and doers award, it's awarded by Walt Disney to a couple of students from each county every year in Florida. She showed the most promise in changing her life and chasing her dreams! Then when she was 16 her family transported her to where she currently lives Charleston West Virginia. Her mother's family lives here, that's why they came. She did not thrive in the school environment here as well as she did in Florida, she quit school her sophomore year. Later when her second child was born and she was in her mid-20s she got her GED, then when her third child was born she went for office administration at a local trade school. 

After her divorce, she went to the local barber college where she became a barber permist and still does that full-time today. She works in a local salon on the west side of Charleston West Virginia, full-time, and she writes her books in her spare time. Never one to quit, or be told she can't do something achieving her lifelong dream of becoming a published author really reinforced her belief that you can be anything. Currently she is a self-published author, because of funding this venture on her own she is unable to go the traditional route.
